HC warns BDA of contempt proceedings

August 03, 2013 12:20 am | Updated 12:20 am IST - Bangalore:

The Karnataka High Court on Friday warned the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) that it would consider initiation of contempt of court proceedings for disobeying the court’s January 16 order to submit a report within six weeks after considering the pleas of some of the petitioners, who have questioned acquisition of their land for the Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Layout. Justice Ashok B. Hinchigeri made oral observation in this regard after noticing that even after lapse of six months the BDA did not submit the report.

In its January order, the court had asked the BDA to look into the claims of petitioners R. Shankaran and others within six weeks and submit a report. The court will hear the petitions on August 6.
