HC seeks compliance report by April 30

The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday directed the State to give a compliance report by April 30 on actions initiated for removal of structures put up by allegedly encroaching upon Sarakki lake-bed area.

Meanwhile, the court directed the tahsildar (Bengaluru-South) to appear before it on Friday for allegedly demolishing a portion of Nandini Lakeview Apartment despite a status quo order issued in favour of the apartment owners’ welfare association against any action based on eviction notice.

A Division Bench comprising Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice B.V. Nagarathna issued separate directions during the hearing of a contempt plea against the State for failing to clear encroachments; and another plea by the association complaining that demolitions were carried out violating court’s earlier directions issued in December 2014 and on April 15, 2015.

The Bench summoned the tahsildar as it was complained that despite the status quo order issued in the morning, the demolitions were continued by the authorities.
