May 24, 2013 11:08 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:16 pm IST - Bangalore:

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered issue of notices to the Union government, the Reserve Bank of India and the Amanath Bank on a batch of petitions filed by bank’s depositors seeking permission to withdraw their money.

Vacation judge Justice H. Billappa passed the order on petitions filed by Mohammed Tahseen Abrar and others.

The petitioners have sought a direction to the authorities to allow them to withdraw their money deposited with the bank.

One of the petitioners complained that Amanath Bank turned down his request to withdraw Rs 1.52 lakh he needed for his Haj pilgrimage citing RBI restrictions.

The latter has banned withdrawal of cash exceeding Rs. 1,000 per transaction.
