The Karnataka High Court on Monday ordered issue of notice to the State government and the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on a PIL petition seeking a direction for reserving three per cent of the sites in Kempegowda Layout, at concessional rates, for persons with disabilities.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath passed the order after hearing the petition filed by the Karnataka Rajya Vikalachetanara Rakshana Samiti.
The petitioners claimed that BDA has earmarked only one per cent of the sites to physically challenged persons, that too at the price applicable to general applicants. They said this is despite the fact that the law mandates reservation of three per cent.
