HC disposes of case on garbage tenders

June 18, 2010 02:43 pm | Updated 02:43 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday disposed of a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) calling for global tenders for garbage clearance.

The PIL contended that the BBMP, which was under the Administrator then, was not empowered to issue global tenders and the elected body should have done it.

The palike told the court that it had scrapped the global tenders already called and would invite fresh tenders.

A Division Bench comprising Justice V.G. Sabhahit and Justice A.S. Bopanna disposed of the petition after recording the BBMP statement.
