The city’s commuters can now have a say in what they feel about the traffic police. A public polling system where commuters can vote if they are ‘happy’ or ‘unhappy’ with the traffic police has been launched. Based on the feedback, the police will be rewarded by the Police Department.
The programme is being launched by the Bangalore City Police and Traffic Police Care, an NGO, on a pilot basis from October 1 at five busy junctions - CMH Road-B.M. Shri. junction, Jayanagar South End Circle, Koramangala Sony World junction, Silk Board junction and Manyata-Lumbini park. Depending on the most number of ‘happy votes’ in a particular area, the traffic personnel concerned will be rewarded. This will help encourage other traffic police to work better, said Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) B. Dayanand, who said that public support is crucial for supporting the program.
“The programme will be extended to other junctions in the city,” he added.
