A traffic constable and inspector attached to the Halasuru police station logged on social media platforms and successfully traced the owner of a lost high end phone.
On Saturday night, Ameer Humza, attached to the Halasur police station, found the phone worth over ₹50, 000 lying on 100 Feet Road.
“I waited for sometime to see if someone would come to claim it. But, when no one turned up, I handed the phone over to inspector Yogesh Sarji,” Mr. Humza told The Hindu .
As the inspector was unable to unlock the phone, he dialled Namma 100 (emergency number). “I could make emergency calls. I called 100 and asked them to tell me the number I was calling from,” said the inspector.
With it they identified the owner as Pooja. “We then searched social media platforms and found her. We left her a message and she replied stating that she was in her native Uttar Pradesh and her friend would come and collect the phone," he said.
On Sunday, the phone was handed over to her friend.
City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood and Additional Commissioner of Police (traffic) R. Hithendra appreciated the constable for his good work.
