The city received heavy rains on Saturday evening with reports of hail stones in some places in south Bengaluru. The rain disrupted peak hour traffic on the weekend and led to jams in the Central Business District. The rain lashed the city for several hours, leading to water logging at several junctions, which added to the traffic chaos.

Water logging was reported in Majestic, Seshadripuram and Malleswaram.

Over 15 incidents of trees or branches falling were reported on Saturday evening from Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Jnanabharathi, Kengeri, Vijaynagar, Jayanagar, Vidyapeetha Circle and other areas.

S.M. Metri, director, Indian Meteorological Centre, Bengaluru, termed the rain as unseasonal pre-monsoon showers which were the outcome of weather systems created due to high temperatures. IMD has forecast similar rains for the next three days.
