A man who checked into a hotel in HSR Layout left with the LCD TV installed in his room.

He had checked in four days ago posing as a businessman. His ID card mentioned his name as Devraj, which later turned out to be fake.

The incident came to light when the hotel staff noticed that he was not to be seen for four days. They called on his contact number, but his phone was switched off.

When staff went to his room, they noticed that the TV was missing. On checking CCTV footage, they saw him walk out carrying a huge black box.

The HSR Layout police have taken up a case.

“Similar cases have been reported from various parts of the city. We had recently arrested one person who has a similar modus operandi, and remanded him in judicial custody,” a senior police officer said.
