Guard killed for resisting robbery

Unidentified robbers allegedly killed a security guard while he resisted a robbery at a supermarket on Utharahalli Main Road here on Monday night.

Subrahmanyapura police said the body of Shekar (40), a native of Akkur village in Channapatna, was found in a pool of blood, with multiple injuries on the head and neck, at the cellar of Heritage Fresh supermarket, where he was working from last one month.

Based on physical clues like fingerprints, police suspect a gang of at least three barged into the supermarket at around 11.30 p.m. on Monday, and attempted to break open the main door. Mr. Shekar appears to have resisted them and paid with his life when they battered him with an iron rod.
