Vehicle users in the city got some good news, as fuel prices dropped with the abolition of the entry tax that the state government was imposing.
The abolition, which is in line with the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax that was rolled out across the country on July 1, will result in a drop in fuel prices ranging between ₹2.5 to ₹3. Besides the abolition of entry tax, the sales tax being charged under Section 5 of the Karnataka Sales Tax Act, 1957, was also slashed, which has also contributed to the drop in prices.
As a result, from Saturday, diesel was being sold at ₹54.27 per liter and petrol for ₹64.21 per liter.
