Green Bazaar to ‘catch every drop’

That water is a precious resource and commodity is common knowledge. Did you know that the city needs 1.3 billion litres of water everyday and that despite drawing from various sources, there is a shortage of at least 30 per cent? This underscores the need for judicious use of water.

It comes as no surprise that the focus of the fifth edition of Green Bazaar, a monthly market celebrating sustainability as a way of life that will be held on March 29, will be on water. With the theme “Catch every drop”, the bazaar will celebrate the city’s rich tradition of lakes and tanks, the rivers that run through it and the Cauvery River that nourishes it.

According to a press release, the bazaar will also feature water-themed workshops for children. That apart, the bazaar will also showcase energy efficiency and water management solutions, traditional handcrafted products, children’s books, handmade toys, organic food, eco-friendly home accessories, and up-cycled décor.

As part of the bazaar, an electrifying drum jam performance has been organised at 5 p.m. by Drum Circle Events on March 29. Between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., there will be talks on preserving water, presented by the India Water Portal. The Green Bazaar will be held at The Energy and Resources Institute, 4 Main, Domlur 2 Stage, on March 29 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
