Gram panchayat secretary owns assets worth over Rs. 1 crore

The Lokayukta police have unearthed assets worth crores of rupees during two simultaneous raids conducted on properties owned by S.V. Venkatarangan, a gram panchayat secretary, and Rajanna, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police.

When the Lokayukta police searched the properties of Mr. Venkatarangan, who works at the Bandikodigehalli village of Jala Hobli, they found assets worth over Rs.1 crore. He was found to own 11 plots of agricultural land, three residential plots, in addition to two cars and Rs.1.5 lakh in cash. A search of the premises of Mr. Rajanna’s, who is attached to the Siddapura Police Station, revealed that he is constructing a house at an estimated Rs. 25 lakh at Nanjappa Block in the city, besides owning a three-storey building in Kempegowda Layout worth Rs. 21 lakh as well as a plot in Dhobi Nanjappa Block. The anti-corruption police also recovered close to 1 kg of gold and a little over 1 kg of silver from his house.
