The State government is yet to issue a new notification for extension of night life in the city during weekends till 1 a.m.

The earlier notification, issued by the State Excise Department, allowing bars and restaurants to cater to their customers till 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays expired on June 4. The new notification to continue with the provision was expected to be out on Saturday.

Shambu Dayal Meena, Karnataka Excise Commissioner said that the government is yet to take a decision on extension.

Meanwhile, an order issued by the city police commissioner allowing eateries that do not serve liquor to be open till 1 a.m. daily is set to expire on Sunday. Commissioner Raghvendra H Auradkar told The Hindu that he would issue a new notification once the government instructs him to do so.

Sources say, Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee discussed the issue with the excise commissioner and the city police commissioner on Friday.
