The State government on Thursday wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) asking it to conduct a probe into all types of illegal lottery business, which have created a flutter in the political and bureaucratic circles.
The government, however, has not fixed any time frame to conduct the probe.
In its letter to the CBI, the government sought a probe into all types of illegal lottery business/activities and taking further action; and investigation and identification of persons involved in illegal lottery business.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told presspersons here that the agency would be asked to probe the case starting from April 1, 2007, when the single-digit lottery was banned in the State.
Asked about JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy meeting with Governor Vajubhai R. Vala and handing over documents related to lottery scam to him, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Governor was not the probing agency. “If he (Mr. Kumaraswamy) has any documents, let him give them to the CBI,” the Chief Minister said.
