October 31, 2013 10:11 pm | Updated 10:11 pm IST - Bangalore:

A first-year PU student allegedly committed suicide in her house on Magadi Road on Tuesday evening after she was reportedly reprimanded by her parents.

The deceased identified as Reshma (17), a student of Vivekananda College in Rajaji Nagar, was a resident of Cholurpalya and was living with her parents, brother and grandmother.

According to the police, Reshma’s mother, Munirathna, found her daughter going out everyday on the pretext of attending college during Dasara holidays. On Tuesday, Muniratha found that the college was closed for 15 days. Munirathana and her husband reprimanded Reshma. The incident came to light when Reshma’s younger brother returned home in the evening and found her hanging from the ceiling with a sari. The Magadi Road police rushed to the spot and shifted the body.
