A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances near her house in Hebbal on Thursday.

Trisha was the only daughter of Vijay and Seema who hailed from Kolkota and staying in a single-room house in Gopalaiah Layout for the past few months. While Vijay was working in a hotel Seema was a beautician, the police said.

On Wednesday evening Trisha was last seen playing in front of her house at around 7.30 p.m. After a few minutes Trisha was missing and the couple started searching for her frantically.

After intense search they filed a missing complaint with the Hebbal police and soon police joined the search. After searching for few hours, the couple finally found Trisha's body in a vacant site a few yards away from the house.

The body did not have any external injuries and it was suspected that someone might have smothered her to death.

The police have registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating.
