May 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:30 am IST - Bengaluru:

The police were able to nab the suspect in the abduction and rape attempt on a 22-year-old girl from Manipur, as his face was clearly visible in CCTV footage. The police recognised the suspect Akshay (24), a cab driver and resident of C.K. Achukattu. In 2014, Akshay was booked for assaulting a youth with a machete at a Ganesha festival celebration. He was arrested and a rowdy sheet was opened. He has been out on bail since then and began working as a cab driver. Akshay was produced in a city court on Tuesday evening and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. He was transferred to Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.

The police are planning a medical test on the girl on Wednesday.
