Dance, music and a host of other cultural activities are in store for Bangaloreans as Germany and India commemorate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Hans Günter Löffler, Deputy to Consul-General, Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany, told reporters here that the multi-city “Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities” will kickoff with a lecdem on Saturday by Niels “Storm” Robitzky,dancer-choreographer from Berlin.
The lecdem, Storm Breaks in Bangalore, will be held at the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts at 4.30 p.m. for local dancers. Its outcome would be integrated into the opening programme of the celebrations — an electrifying dance performance, Solo for Two , by Storm on September 24 at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Auditorium on Museum Road.
Acrobatics
Solo for Two is said to be the humorous union of two characters brought together for better or for worse — Niels and Storm — who, be it acrobats, tightrope walkers or robots, enjoy themselves while walking backwards through the city and through life. Entry is by invitation only.
The European Day of Languages will be celebrated on September 26 by the Goethe-Institut in association with Alliance Francaise, Instituto Hispanic, Nordic Talks and others.
Jamming it
As part of the celebrations, German percussionist Christoph Haberer will perform along with percussionist Karthik Mani and vocalist R.A. Ramamani. The event, Dialogue of the Drums, is on September 30 at 6.30 p.m. at Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. Entry is free.
Marek Dziki, Managing Director of Merck Ltd., said that on the occasion of German National Day on October 3, the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck will perform the classical greats Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms at 7 p.m. at the Chowdiah Memoiral Hall. Entry is through invitation passes. Christoph Bertrams, Director, Geothe-Institut, said invitations for the dance performance may be collected from the institute on 716, CMH Road, Indiranagar 1st Stage, between 9 a.m. and 6.30 p.m.
