With rain and elections expected in the coming days, Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George inspected flood-prone areas of Shantinagar and J.C. Road here on Tuesday. He instructed the BBMP officials to complete the stormwater drain work before monsoon.

At Shantinagar, internal drains worth ₹13 crore have been approved and officials expect the project to be completed within three months. The project will ensure the major bus depot, which flooded multiple times in last years rains, does not get inundated.

The stormwater drain work in J.C. Road, Chickpet and Shantinagar is expected to be completed within 15 days, said officials. Here, strengthening of the SWD is being undertaken at a cost of around ₹8 crore.
