Gang of three held for jewellery shop burglary

The Bommanahalli police have cracked jewellery shop burglary case and arrested a gang of three, who bore a tunnel into the shop from an adjacent house and made away with gold and silver valuables worth ₹70 lakh.

The accused Pradeep Dilip Mole (27) from Kolhapur in Maharashtra had rented out a house adjacent to Pawan Jewellers on Begur Road and had paid ₹15,009 as deposit. He, along with his associates Praful Chandrakanth Shine (35) and Gurang Mondol (37), dug a tunnel into the shop on June 29 and escaped with the valuables.

The Bommanahalli police, who had registered a case, used CCTV footage and call record details and tracked the accused in Sholapur in Maharashtra and Sahebganj in Jharkhand. The police said Praful and Gurang had assisted Pradeep by providing logistic help to dig the tunnel.

Pradeep is an autorikshaw driver in Mumbai and had recently bought a flat. To repay the home loan, he hatched a plan to rob a jewellery shop. After a reece in and around the city, he zeroed in on Pawan Jewels on Begur Road.

City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood appreciated the police team and announced cash reward for solving the case.
