The Jnanabharathi police have arrested six men — all in their early 20s — and recovered three kilograms of marijuana from them.
The prime accused, Kiran B., 29, posed as a journalist from a local news channel. Along with his associates, he would sell the illegal substance to college students and employees of private firms, a senior police officer said.
Based on a tip-off, a police team cornered them on Ullal Main Road while they were peddling the drugs. The other accused have been identified as Hemanth N., 24, Mahadeva, 23, Rohan Poojar, 21, Sharath, 22, and Padmanabha, 23. The police have taken the accused into custody and are trying to find out the source of their drugs.
In another incident, officers of the Central Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old foreigner and recovered five grams of cocaine from him. The accused, Kenneth Nwabhunwane, was arrested outside a supermarket in K.R. Puram while he was waiting for his clients to deliver cocaine worth ₹30,000. The police have seized a mobile phone from the accused to probe his network.
