The Kengeri police have arrested a gang of six including two women who were involved in blackmailing people by setting up a honey trap.

The accused, identified as Jayanthi (28), Rukmini (30), Manjunath (32), Mahadeva (27), Mahesh (24) and Swamy (27), trapped Gangadhar, a civil contractor, on March 17, took him to an isolated place in Challaghatta on the outskirts of the city and blackmailed him with a video of him in compromising positions. They threatened to inform his family members about his affair and demanded Rs. 10 lakh.

Gangadhar paid the ransom through one of his friends and later filed a police complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Kengeri police arrested the gang and recovered the booty along with gold valuables which they had robbed from Gangadhar.
