Gang of five robbers nabbed

Kengeri police on Thursday arrested a gang of five persons who robbed people on the pretext of offering them lift.

According to the police, the accused Nagesh (22), Kumar (25), Vinod (22), Anand (21) and Bharath (20) residents of Laggere scouted the city for people waiting for transportation. The would take their victims to isolated places and threaten them with weapons and rob them of their valuables.

The police have recovered 23 grams of gold chains worth Rs two lakh and 17 mobile phones from them along with a car, a motorcycle and lethal weapons. Among the accused, Nagesh is a habitual offender with five other cases of robbery pending against him.

The police have requested the people who have been the victims of these robbers to approach the police. The accused were arrested by the night beat police while they were found roaming in Gnanabharati.
