Gang arrested on charge of robbery, extortion

The South East division police have arrested a gang of four, who were allegedly involved in over half a dozen of robbery and extortion cases in and around the city.

Two of the accused Puneet (25) and Satish (33) are habitual offenders with several criminal cases against them, the police said.

They had been arrested in a murder case and remanded to judicial custody. But, the duo got out on bail. To pay their advocate fee, the accused ganged up with Devaraju (22) and Raghu (20) and engaged in robberies, extortion and vehicle theft in and around Koramangala, Kunigal, Magadi, Gnanabharathi and Parappana Agrahara police station limits, the police said.

The police have recovered gold chains worth ₹2.6 lakh and four motorcycles worth ₹2 lakh from them.
