Free surgeries for poor patients

April 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

People Tree Hospitals announced on Sunday that it would conduct 300 free complex surgeries for poor patients over the next year, at Goruguntepalya in the city.

The surgeries will include orthopaedic surgeries like joint replacements, complex spine surgeries, ENT and complex paediatric surgeries. The hospital plans to conduct 300 surgeries in 300 days.

“Patients will be screened for surgeries on April 17 and in coming months,” said Chandrashekar Chikkamuniyappa, CEO, People Tree Hospitals. One of the criteria for selection is that patients have a BPL card. If they don't have BPL cards, patients may be chosen after an interview with the patient and his or her kin. The hospital will fund post-operative care of the patients as well, said Dr. Chikkamuniyappa. They are also planning to go to rural areas to conduct healthcare camps to identify beneficiaries.
