To mark the 96th birth anniversary of Archarya Buddharakkhita, the founder of the Maha Bodhi Society, the Society is organising a four-day ‘Dhammapada Festival’ from March 9 at its premises in Gandhinagar.

The event will see a series of programmes, including Bhikku ordination of 12 monks, free medical camp, hospital dana service, chanting and medication, seminars on Dhammapada in Kannada and English, Dhammapada gatha recitation, release of publication and launch of new projects.

The seminar on ‘Dhammapada’ is to be held on March 11. It will be inaugurated by Kassapa Mahathera, the present president Maha Bodhi Society.

Retired professor Shubhachandra, Sharath Chandra Swamiji and four others will speak at the seminar. A new Buddhist library ‘Sangyana’ will be launched on March 12.

Mayor G. Padmavathi and other dignitaries are expected to participate in the festival.
