The Jeevan Bhima Nagar police, on Monday, arrested four men for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman, and assaulting her colleague when he objected to their behaviour. The incident took place on Old Airport Road on April 13.

The arrested, Ajay Srinivas, 26, Mahesh Gopal, 26, Santosh Gowda, 24, and Naveen Seetharam, 26, worked as drivers and did odd jobs.

According to police, it was Mahesh’s birthday and his friends, including the prime accused Ajay, had partied at a bar.

They were standing outside the bar after lunch when two women and a man passed them.

Ajay allegedly passed a lewd comment and groped the woman, a software engineer, who slapped him. Her male colleague objected to their behaviour and tried to resist when he was allegedly attacked and assaulted by the men who fled the spot.

The male colleague narrated the incident on social media. In his post, which went viral, he said that when one of the women called the police control room, she was allegedly asked to hold the four men there until the police arrived.
