The accused have been identified as Lakshmeesha (29), a resident of Rajajinagar; Vinod Kumar (28) of Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu; Mohan (25) of Indiranagar; and Madhu (24) from Malavalli in Mandya.

The Subramanyapura police stumbled upon the murder case while they were interrogating three of the accused who were initially detained for robbery in the last week of August. According to the officials, the main accused Lakshmeesha, a private money lender and a resident of Rajajinagar 1st Block, allegedly had an affair with Anjali, a native of Bangladesh, who was working as a domestic help.

Anjali who was carrying Lakshmeesha’s baby had been constantly demanding him to marry her. Angered by this, Lakshmeesha plotted to kill her with the help of Vinod Kumar, Mohan and Madhu.

Lakshmeesha, Vinod Kumar and Mohan had first been picked up in Rajajinagar by the police on a tip-off that the trio were targeting unaccompanied persons and robbing them.

During the interrogation, the accused revealed that they were involved in the murder of a 26-year-old pregnant woman, Anjali, last year.

Police said that the accused had taken Anjali along with them in Madhu’s car. They went to Vinod Kumar’s place in Krishnagiri and later got Anjali consume alcohol spiked with some drugs. Anjali fell unconscious following which the accused carried her to the car and allegedly strangled her to death and also slit her throat.

She was then buried in a roadside pit used for water supply in Uttangarai taluk.
