In a tragic incident, a five year-old girl died after she slipped from the terrace of a four storeyed-building where she was playing in Ramamurthy Nagar.

Pooja, daughter of the building’s security guard, went to play on the terrace with her cousins while her family was busy with guests who had come for Makara Sankranti on Monday.

Pooja was the younger daughter of Bahadur and Lakshmi who live in the basement of the apartment building on the Horamavu Outer Ring Road.

She is believed to have climbed over the railing and plummeted down into a heap of metal pipes, suffering serious head injuries. She was rushed to NIMHANS and then to Victoria Hospital where she died.

"Even though there were safety railings on the building’s terrace, the child had climbed over them,” the police said. “We are waiting for the parents to register a negligence case against the building owner,” a police official said.
