The Byatrayanapura police arrested five persons on the charge of stealing a panchaloha idol on Tuesday. The arrested were identified as Gangadaraiah, Shivalingaiah, Chandrashekhar, Krishna and Koti Chandrashekhar, all from Bangalore. They were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
Police estimate that the idol could be about 500 years old.
