The first day of commercial operations of the East West corridor saw jam packed metro coaches since 6 a.m. Thousands of people travelled in the metro throughout the day and station officials were kept busy as the rush did not decrease even in the afternoon. For many, this was their first experience of a metro.

"I wanted to go to Hoskote, then someone suggested I take the metro to baiyappanahalli, the ticket was 40 rupees but I travelled peacefully. This is a very good option for daily commute," said Sudha G.S., who works on Mysuru Road. Station officials wore a tired but happy look on their faces. "People have been pouring in since 6 a.m., the crowd has increased and waned in turns but we are expecting a larger crowd today evening and tomorrow," a official from the Cubbon Park station said.
