Fire in mattress factory

May 16, 2016 03:54 pm | Updated 03:54 pm IST - Kolar

A fire broke out in a mattress factory at the industrial area in Malur on Sunday. Sponge and other materials stored for preparing beds and machinery were reduced to ashes, causing a huge loss to the factory owned by Bengaluru-based entrepreneurs Alibhai and Jakir Husain. The factory has also suffered from structural damages.

Two fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames and ensure it did not spread to the nearby factories.

According to Mr. Husain, the bedding materials were brought and stored only a couple of days ago. Electrical short-circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
