Fire destroys footwear company’s godown

A warehouse of a private footwear company was gutted in an accidental fire on Tuesday. The warehouse located in Nelamangala on the outskirts of the city belongs to Paragon Footwear.

According to the police, around 15 employees were on the premises at the time of the incident. They said that the fire broke out around 10 a.m. in the area where raw material, including rubber and cotton, was stored. They vacated the premises before alerting the fire control room. Fifteen fire tenders and 150 personnel rushed to the spot.

The fire gradually engulfed the entire godown that is spread over 1.34 acres.

It took six hours to contain the blaze.

Nelamangala Rural police registered a case. Sources in the police said that the entire building is damaged and the loss is estimated to be around Rs. 1 crore.
