At least 12 cars were destroyed in an accidental fire which broke out in a garage in L.R. Bande Main Road in D.J. Halli in the early hours of Sunday.

The incident came to light when goats that were tied in the garage started bleating, alerting the watchman sleeping outside.

He noticed the fire and alerted the Fire and Emergency Services control room. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the blaze. The owner of the car tech garage, Mohammed Waajid, filed a police complaint seeking an investigation into the cause of the fire.

The total value of the property lost is estimated at Rs. 50 lakh, according to the police. A preliminary probe revealed that the fire was due to an electrical short-circuit.
