Federation warns of fight against toll fee hike

May 05, 2014 11:57 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 06:45 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Terming the Saturday midnight hike in the toll collected on the road leading to the Kempegowda International Airport “daylight robbery”, the KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation has urged the State and Union governments to immediately intervene in the matter for rollback of the hike.

In a press release, federation general secretary H.V. Ananthasubba Rao said people are yet to reconcile with the recent steep hike in bus fares by the state road transport corporations. The toll fee not only has no rhyme or logic, but would also cast a heavy burden on transport corporations, he said.

The abnormal toll fee hike affects passengers of transport corporation buses as well as other road users, Mr. Rao said. The Federation disapproves the hike, he said, and censured the State government’s silence over the matter .

Mr. Rao warned the governments to immediately act on the issue, failing which the Federation would be forced to take to the streets to fight for the common man.
