Faulty website stalls property tax payment

May 01, 2014 12:38 am | Updated 12:38 am IST - Bangalore:

Paying property tax online has become impossible for almost two months now as there is a malfunction in the website of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). The web page interface through which owners have to pay tax for BDA property has crashed and doesn’t load.

H.S. Vasudevamurthy, a resident of Vijaynagar, who owns a plot in Visvesvaraya Layout, told The Hindu that he tried to pay the property tax online repeatedly and failed. “It is a website malfunction that can be fixed in a couple of days. BDA has left it unattended for almost two months now,” he said.

Ila Devi, Systems Manager, BDA, said the software had a bug that prevented it from generating receipts for payments made online. And, the payments were also not getting updated to the database.
