Karnataka Bangalore: Victim 31 year softwear engineer Kavitha (insert photo) who died after accidently fell from 15th floor of a building at Sahakara Nagara Police Limits on 02,10,2013.

A 31-year-old software engineer who returned here from the U.S. recently died after she fell from the 11th floor of an apartment while trying a stunt at Sahakarnagar early on Wednesday.

The Kodigehalli police said that Kavitha Armugam, a resident of Rajajinagar, returned to her friend’s apartment after a late night party and was trying a “jump from one balcony to another” when she fell to the ground.

Kavitha Armugam was a software engineer, and she quit her job in the U.S. for her sister’s marriage here.

The police said that her sister left for the U.S. soon after the marriage but Kavitha stayed with her parents at Rajajinagar. She was looking for a job here.

On Tuesday evening, Kavitha went to the party at her friend’s house at Canara Bank Colony.

They partied late into the night and Kalyani, a friend, asked Kavitha to go with her to her flat at Alpine Pyramid. Kavitha and the others reached Kalyani’s apartment around 2.30 a.m.

Preliminary police investigation revealed that Kavitha, Kalyani and the others were on the balcony and Kavitha, in a playful mood, said that she would jump from one balcony to another. The others were reluctant but Kavitha went ahead and while doing so, lost balance and fell to the ground.

The Kodigehalli police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital.

Inquiries also revealed that Kavitha and her friends had had drinks.

The police are awaiting post-mortem report to ascertain the exact reason for the death.

The police said that the statement given by her friends show that Kavitha consumed alcohol at the party. “We are inquiring those who were with Kavitha at the time of the accident,” the police added.
