The private bus, ferrying some 50 college students on a trip from a Hiriyur college to Bangalore and was on its way to an amusement park, reportedly lost control of its brakes and rammed a small house near Nandini theatre, trapping the family, residents of Gelayarabalaga.

Rajajinagar police said while Hamsini died on the spot, the others were grievously injured. Vanitha has been admitted to NIMHANS with head injuries.

It was the residents of the area who rushed to family to hospitals nearby. An angry public said it took the police nearly half an hour to reach the spot.

The public handed over the driver and cleaner of the bus to the police. Residents alleged that the driver was driving rashly. The Rajajinagar police have registered a case and are investigating.
