Some parts of the city experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday afternoon, with tree falls and flooding affecting parts of South Bengaluru. Three cars were damaged when a tree was uprooted at Jayanagar 5th block.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike’s control room was flooded with phone calls. “Trees fell near 32nd Main 13th cross JP Nagar, JP Nagar 3rd phase, Kumaraswamy Layout and near Viveknagar Post Office,” said the control room officer.

Flooding was reported at R.R Nagara, Saarakki; Vijaya bank Colony, Bannerghata Main Road, JP Nagar (Third Phase), Anugraha Layout in Billekahalli, Vittalnagar in ISRO Layout, Hoskerahalli, Chandana Nagar in Kumaraswamy Layout, 13th A Cross in Sarakki, KR Nagar, Kodichikkanahalli, Padhmanabhanagar, HSR Layout, and 100 ft road near Kadrenahalli underpass.

Meanwhile, humidity levels, which reached 81 per cent along with the maximum temperature of 30.4 by late afternoon, fell drastically with the minimum temperature going down to 20.6 degree Celsius in the evening. “There will be generally cloudy skies with a spell or two of rain,” said the weather duty officer.

Repaired road back

Just a month after the Hosur Road stretch from Veerasandra junction to Madiwala was repaired, the road is full of potholes again. Water logging has added to the woes of commuters to Electronics City, who sometimes have to spend an hour or two on the highway during peak hours. “The road section is full of potholes at Veerasandra junction, the entry point of Bengaluru city,” said an Electronics City traffic police official.
