The Medical Education Department has decided to initiate action against the ENT specialist at the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute who was on the panel which gave a prospective student a fake disability certificate. She had used the certificate to obtain an MBBS seat at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in 2012-13.

Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil said the department would initiate action against Mahesh Babu, the girl’s father who was also on the panel. The Karnataka Examinations Authority cancelled her seat last week after verification by doctors from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences that the girld had indeed produced a fake disability certificate.

The student was to receive her MBBS degree in 2017-2018 and was in her final year of college.
