Students who did not clear the II PU exam but have an aptitude for the performing arts need not lose heart.
The Hamsalekha Desi College for Performing Arts and Research at Mahalakshmipuram here, affiliated to the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), will offer bachelor’s and master’s course in Performing Arts (BPA and MPA) along with bachelor’s and master’s course in desi music (BDM and MDM) to such students.
Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, president of the college and renowned music director Hamsalekha said many students who failed to pass the PU exam often stopped their studies or became depressed. Instead, they could take up the performing arts, he said.
The students who failed the II PU exam would simultaneously take up a six-month course in Bachelor of Preparatory Programme (BPP). This would involve writing an additional paper during their first year which they will have to clear to obtain the BPP certificate. The BPP will be considered a PU certificate following which they can pursue bachelor’s course. Mr. Hamsalekha said the college would hold a Talent Entrance Test from May 15 to June 15.
