An exclusive facility for printing sensitive and confidential government documents as well as question papers for various examinations was set up in Bangalore on Thursday with the inauguration of the Government Security Press.
Inaugurating the new facility, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said this would also print government cheques and demand drafts.
He said the staff of this press had a great responsibility of maintaining secrecy.
There was a dire need to maintain secrecy especially while printing State budget copies, secret documents and question papers, he noted.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri said it was for the first time in the country that such a press had been set up by a State government to print sensitive documents and question papers.
He said the government printing press had earned a profit of Rs. 16 crore this year.
Pointing out that the press had about 400 daily wage labourers, he said he was ready to regularise their services if the government gave its approval.
