A large number of children participated in the four-day robotic festival that ended here on Sunday. Enthusiastic to learn about robotics, young science enthusiasts should keen interest to know more about the small components that went into making the robots.
Models on displaySome of the models displayed included an automatic rider bike, ball hunter, a bluetooth controlled car, a robot that can go into an air-conditioning duct and clean as well as a monkey that blows bubbles.
Revanth S. Kalagudi, a student of Delhi Public School, said he is fascinated by robotics. “Robots are exciting and can do things that humans cannot do. There is a thrill in making and creating robots,” he said.
Hands-on experienceAnother visitor, Jeevan Venkataramaiah H.M., a Class 4 student of BGS World School in Chickballapur was visibly excited. According to him, the exhibition provided a platform for students to get a hands-on experience with the models.
I.A. Khan, chief executive officer of Novatech Robo, the company that organised the event, said there are not many trained persons in this field of robotics.
“At present, most of the equipment and robots required for training in schools are not available in India and have to be imported. Although robotics is in the nascent stage here, there is a lot of potential that can be tapped,” he said.
He also said that his company had tied up with the University of West Florida and Lawrence Technological University, Michigan, to provide robotics education. He also said robotics can no longer be considered a domain in urban areas but can also be spread to semi-urban and rural areas also with remote accessibility.
The company also plans to provide free robotic training in 10 government schools in the city.
