Ex-Army man held on cheating charge

The South East Division police in coordination with Army officials, arrested a 42-year-old retired Army personnel on cheating charge.

Based on a tip-off from Army officials, a team of police personnel raided a house in Koramangala 6th Block and arrested N.C. Jana, who hails from West Bengal.

Police said that Jana was cheating people by issuing fake medical certificates to help them join the Army. In fact at the time of the raid, there were seven job aspirants in his house.

The seven aspirants, who had cleared the Bharath Sena Rally physical fitness test, had handed over their documents to him when they were approached near the Army Centre in Vivek Nagar. Jana had said that he would return their original documents after he was paid an amount of Rs. 75,000 or Rs. 1 lakh.

Jana’s house was raided after an Army officer lodged a complaint against him.

Police have seized marks cards and other certificates besides two mobile phones and five ATM cards from the arrested man who was living in a rented house in Koramangala for the past six years.
