Evolve scheme for police recruitment, Karnataka told

August 09, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:35 am IST - Bengaluru:

The High Court of Karnataka on Monday asked the State to hold a meeting of officials concerned to evolve a scheme for a recruitment process to be carried out annually to fill vacancies in the Police Department.

Justice A.N. Venugopala Gowda issued an oral direction when the State Advocate-General Madhusoodan R. Naik sought time while pointing out that several departments get involved in the recruitment process. While adjourning further hearing to next month, the court asked the A-G to ensure that officials of the departments concerned, who are involved in the process of recruitment, are personally present in the court for the next hearing.

The court issued the direction while hearing a petition, through which it is examining the shortcomings, including a huge vacancy of 25 per cent posts in the Police Department and has been issuing directions to the State to address the issues.
