A 50-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances soon after undergoing surgery at a private hospital on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Gnanaprakash, a mechanical engineer with a private company and a resident of Yeshwanthpur. According to the police, Gnanaprakash had a minor road accident and sustained injuries on his leg. The doctors at HOSMAT Hospital checked him and asked him to come on Monday for a minor surgery.

As per the advice, Gnanaprakash got admitted on Monday and soon after the surgery, he succumbed.

Based on the complaint from Gnanaprakash’s wife, the Ulsoor police have taken up a case of medical negligence and are investigating.

Thomas A Chandy, Medical Director and Chief of Orthopaedics of HOSMAT, however, claimed there was no medical negligence. “He underwent a surgery for a broken leg and spoke after the surgery. He died of a cardiac arrest. We are awaiting the post-mortem report.”
