A 24-year-old engineering student was killed on the spot when a speeding BMTC bus ran over him near Vidyashilp Academy in Yelahanka on Wednesday morning.

Anand C., a resident of Magadi Road, studying civil engineering at Sri Revana Siddeshwara Institute of Technology in Chikkajala, was on his way to college on a motorcycle when a car parked on the footpath suddenly moved on to the road without any indication.

Anand, who was riding fast, swerved in order to avoid a collision but the bus moving towards the airport ran over him, killing him on the spot.

The Yelahanka traffic police rushed to the spot and seized both the car and the bus before shifting the body to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital for post-mortem. The police have also detained both the drivers.
