Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday conceded to the demand of Y.S.V. Datta, Janata Dal (Secular) MLA, and promised to provide funds to set up a sub-station at Kadur to ensure quality power to the constituency in Chikkamagaluru district.

At a meeting with Mr. Mr. Datta, Mr. Shivakumar promised to establish a solar park in Kadur constituency, estimated to cost Rs. 100 crore. He also told the MLA that Rs. 50 crore would be released for purchase of power equipment to prevent diversion of electricity from his constituency to Chitradurga district.

Mr. Datta had threatened to resign from the Legislative Assembly last month over the issue of diversion of power from Kadur taluk to Chitradurga district.
