The Electronics City traffic police saved a 28-year-old pedestrian’s life by taking him to a hospital in their patrol vehicle within the golden hour after he was hit by a speeding vehicle this morning.

“We decided to use our vehicle to rush the accident victim instead of waiting for an ambulance which never comes on time,” a senior police officer said, adding that the NHAI, that is supposed to provide ambulance service for accident cases, never responds properly.

According to the police the accident occurred at Naganathapura junction on Hosur Road. “A few passers-by informed us that an accident had taken place on Hosur Road. We immediately rushed to the spot and saw a person lying in a pool of blood. We realised that he was still alive. We called and waited for an ambulance, but it was late. Every minute is precious in the golden hour. So we put him in our jeep and took him to a private hospital. The doctors responded quickly and saved his life,” the police officer said.

The accident victim is Shivaraj (28), employee of a private company on Hosur Road. He was hit by an Uber cab KA01 AE 6748. Efforts are on to trace the cab.
